Advisory on Verifying NEA Officer's Identity

How to Verify National Environment Agency Inspection Officers

Singapore, 2 September 2013 - With effect from 2 September 2013, all NEA officers will don new uniforms when serving the public. With a more prominent NEA logo, the new uniform will allow for easy identification of all NEA inspection officers.

2          The NEA uniforms, consisting of a white shirt, blue trousers and a name tag on the right hand side of the officer’s shirt, project a strong NEA identity and image, one of professionalism, discipline and quality assurance.

3          The NEA uniform will be worn by all NEA officers who are deployed to conduct inspections. These areas of inspection cover both environmental protection and public health related matters, ranging from pollution control and radiation protection to port health, vector control, illegal hawking, food hygiene and safety.

4          Prior to entering of any premises, our NEA officers will identify themselves with their authority cards bearing their photos and card numbers. The owners or occupiers of the premises will also be informed of the purpose of the NEA officers’ visit.

5          Should members of the public require further verification of an officer’s identity, they can contact the NEA Contact Centre’s number (1800-2255-632 / 1800-CALL-NEA) and provide the Contact Centre with the name and authority card number of the officer.
